Product Functions
TCI provides fast, easy, and secure access to all content, stored anywhere in the enterprise. It gives authorized users a single, consistent interface to multiple, disparate content sources and delivers content to business-critical applications.
TCI comprises five basic services:
- Search - locate and retrieve content across multiple content repositories, databases and file systems with a single search request
- Authentication - ensure secure access with flexible options for validating a user’s credentials
- Index Mapping – relate disparate index names and formats to simplify cross-repository searching
- Content Delivery – present content to users in a Web browser, a desktop application, or a native viewing client like Mobius’sDocumentDirect for the Internet
- Archive Write - easily add content from any other source directly into the ViewDirect repository
Adapters
TCI’s packaged adapters translate queries, pass them from user to content source and deliver the requested content back to the user. Purpose-built adapters integrate access to a wide range of content providers, including:
- ViewDirect Repositories (on z/OS, UNIX, and Windows)
- FileNet Image Services and FileNet Content Services
- IBM DB2 Content Manager OnDemand (on z/OS, UNIX, and Windows)
- Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services
- Microsoft SQL Server
- File Systems and Web sites
- Search engines

In addition to the packaged adapters delivered with TCI, the Adapter Software Development Kit (SDK) can be used to build adapters for any content source, including in-house and custom-built repositories. The Adapter SDK includes the required program modules along with complete documentation, working sample code and sample data, making development fast and easy using in-house resources, system integrators, or Mobius Professional Services.
Standards-based Interface
Mobius’s open source interface to TCI can be used by independent software vendors and end-user organizations to develop applications that can retrieve content from all repositories connected to Total Content Integrator. This Web Services Description Language (WSDL) and Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP)-based content integration framework enhances the “plug-and-play” interoperability of the system and will connect any user of content to any source of content.
Registration
After submitting the registration form, you will be sent an e-mail confirming that you have successfully registered with the Mobius TCI Demo Server and providing your user ID and password for access to the TCI sample application download page. After downloading the sample code, you will also have access to complete documentation for using the TCI interface to build your own client applications.
